At City Football Leadership Institute, we strive to provide ambitious, sport-minded young students with an immersive and inspiring experience at the heart of the global sporting industry. A Institute student is highly motivated, dedicated to self-development, thoughtful, and a considerate team player. We invite students from all backgrounds and countries to apply to the programme and follow their passion for learning about sport.
The programme is open to students ages 15-18. All prospective students are required to complete an online application form that can be completed in a few easy steps.
There is a separate online application form for financial aid, which is open to UK resident students who meet specific widening participation criteria.
More details about the financial aid process can be found here.
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Once submitted, we will review your application and will email you to let you know when your place has been confirmed.
To complete an application, you’ll need to
- Fill out your basic information
- Submit a Personal Statement (up to 250 words) describing your motivations for joining the programme.
- Pay the £40 (inclusive of VAT) application fee. An application fee waiver is available if you submit your application before the priority deadline on 20 April.
- Supply copy of your most recent high school report/transcript. The document must be in English and include the school’s grading system. Please note there are no minimum grade requirements for entry.
- A reference from a teacher, guidance counsellor, coach or school official.
There are no formal English entry requirements, however if you are not a native speaker, we recommend you have an intermediate level of English so you can have the best study experience and be able to communicate with your tutors and fellow students.
Once an application is fully submitted, the Admissions Committee will review it. If the Admissions Committee decides that more information is needed, you will be invited to a virtual interview. Applicants can be admitted or rejected without an interview
All applications are carefully reviewed by our Admissions Committee. Each application is reviewed holistically and qualified students who have demonstrated both a genuine interest in and strong potential will be considered for admission to the programme. The Committee will strive to select young people with a range of talents and diverse backgrounds and interests.
Students will receive an admissions decision via the email address provided on their application within one to two weeks. Accepted students will be required to submit a nonrefundable deposit.
Space is strictly limited so we strongly encourage students to submit their applications as early as possible. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, however there are key deadlines:
Summer 2022: 24 July – 5 August
- Next Application Deadline: 18 July
At City Football Leadership Institute, we are deeply committed to supporting and celebrating diversity and creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can achieve their leadership potential regardless of their background and personal experiences.
To ensure that students from underrepresented groups have a level playing field we are proud to offer a robust financial aid package as well as merit scholarships. All applicants will be automatically considered for merit scholarships. Students seeking addition financial assistance must complete the financial aid form following their submission of the programme application.
