Five Reasons Why You Should Attend Our Next Gen Summer Programme in 2024
Our signature Teen programme, Next Gen, aims to connect the next generation of leaders with the sport industry and give them their first experience of what a future career in the sector could look like.
Returning to Manchester for its third year, and launching in New York City for the first time, this Summer Residential takes 14-17 year olds inside the world of City Football Group, Manchester City and New York City FC.
Here’s five reasons why you should join us for a summer of a lifetime:
1. Behind-the-scenes access to professional sports teams
Football clubs have their own eco-systems, with hundreds of roles across the industry, including coaching, analytics, marketing, design and finance. At the Next Gen summer programme, you’ll meet some of today’s industry leaders, learning from top practitioners and completing immersive activities to put your new skills into practise – including E-sports interactive sessions, designing your own sports kit, and learning the art of producing social media content for global audiences.
2. Experiences outside of the classroom
Manchester and New York City are thriving cities known for their culture, education and cutting edge cultural scene, in addition to being internationally-renowned sporting hubs for some of the worlds biggest teams. Not only will you be learning about the world of professional football, but there will be opportunities to visit some of the world’s most iconic arenas and attending live sport, as well as free time to explore the city with your classmates.
3. Learn from coaching staff at Manchester City and New York City FC
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from professional coaches at Manchester City and New York City FC’s state-of-the-art training grounds, understanding their tactical philosophies and how to develop talent through their Academies.
4. Build your network
The sports industry is competitive, and it is beneficial to have an interconnected network of individuals across the industry who can help develop your skills, provide advice, and could bring employment opportunities for you in the future. The Next Gen summer programme is the perfect opportunity to begin building your network, not only with course leaders and faculty, but with fellow students too.

All students who apply for Next Gen Manchester or New York City before March 11 will receive a 15% discount, so there’s no better time to apply!
Next Gen is open to students 14-17 years old. Students must be 14 years old by the first day of the programme. All students are required to complete an online application, which can be completed in a few basic steps.
